Checked out "Berendo Stairs" site. Makes me want to noogie myself all over again to see how well-known these stairs seem to be.  I must have been within a stone's throw of them at some point, back when we lived in Hollywood and walked the hills on weekends. Of course, I don't actually look at my surroundings; I just  sort of feel them.

Did you get it into your head to just cruise the entirety of Berendo, in all its discontinuity? Or did you just test the extremes? I didn't know there was a North Berendo until High School. Loyola was on Venice Blvd, and I crossed a Berendo intersection on my walk to the school from the streetcar on Vermont. I figured all the Berendo that wasn't ours was beneath us, but I see the north end is in posh territory. 

This is just one of many little revelations hitting me in old age, making me think, "Where have I been all my life, that I'm just learning this?" And so little time left to enjoy the new-found fact! Soon, with luck (good and bad), I'll be in the stage where I can enjoy lifelong relearning of the same thing anew each day. Talk about a cheap date!

Hi Ak,

Did you walk the stairs?  I guess you must have if you showed the little round rest area. Very interesting. 

I think there used to be a piece of Berendo where the church of scientology is,  But they renamed it L.Ron Hubbard way.

Julia Dumas passes.

Hi Berendo Folks,

My mom passed away last night after 108 years.  We won't be having a conventional funeral/memorial yet because of COVID concerns, maybe later when things smooth out.  We are taking her to be buried up near Kernville where my Dad and Juli are buried.  

Please pass the word on to any other Berendo folks that you might be in contact with.  Tell them hi from all the Dumas family.

Hope everyone is well and staying safe in these weird times.

Thanks for the great old pictures.  That first one of the gas station reminds me of one of Alex's photos of Nelson's garage (see attached) where the price of gas is shown as 9.9 cents per gallon.
