We are so sorry to learn of your mom's death, Alex.  She was a wonderful friend, neighbor and second mom to all of us who were fortunate enough to live on South Berendo Avenue in the late 40's and 50's.  We will  miss her!

Al, 

Linda and I have been away on vacation and just got home this week. We are so sorry to
hear about you mom's passing. It seems that when we loose someone from our Berendo street part of me goes with them. Your Mom was very much a part of all our lives growing up on Berendo. Some very great memories. Please let us know when the  memorial service will be….we are wanting to be there. Please extend our condolences to the rest your family.

Hi Alex, thanks for keeping us updated on your mom's health condition.  I'm glad to hear that she is doing better now that she is settled into the new care home.  I can imagine that it is good for her to  be around other people and to feel secure and cared for.  We're - Mary and I - sending lots of love to her and prayers for her continued better health and peace in her life.  We also send our support to you and Elma and all the great Magdeleno family.  It must be hard to see your mom declining and have to make the difficult decisions for her.  

So glad we have been able to be part of each other's lives over the years.  We are all so lucky to have lived on South Berendo Avenue and to have been part of a wonderful neighborhood.

Mom is much improved today. She moved into her new place today and is adjusting very well. She is much more alert and talkative than she has been for a  week or two. The home has a really good reputation.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. She does seem to be slowly getting better. She hasn't walked yet but at least they get her out of bed and into a wheel chair for several hours a day.

Hi Berendo Gang,  My brothers and I have an annual road trip outing.  This year we visited the Northwest and had the wonderful opportunity to visit one of our Berendo friends in her home near Port Townsend.  Karen gave us a great tour of her house and invited us to stay overnight there.  In addition, she put together two delicious meals for us.  Best bed and breakfast of our trip :-) Thanks also to Judy for helping get these photos to me via email.  We had very nice chat with Judy at Karen's via Skype.  - Johnny Dumas
