I think you're right about the immediate neighborhood. I do remember a fire at
H&H Lumber. I recall my dad saying that lumber yards were particularly
susceptible to fires starting because of the quantity of sawdust around the
place. A spark from the saws could land in a pile of sawdust and smolder for a
long time before it flashed.

So far as I know - the Chineer house was the ONLY fire in our area. As to
firehouses - I do not recall at all.
