Re: Fires in the Neighborhood?

Does anyone recall where the closest firehouse was?  I feel like it may have been on Normandy.

  1. I looked up the county fire department fire house locations and found one on Normandy and 108th street. I don't know how long a firehouse has been in that location. This one looks like a fairly new one. Maybe it replaced an older one in the same location. This is right next to Washington High School.

  2. I looked up the L.A. City Firehouse locations and found one near 78th and Vermont.

  3. Mike Dumas pointed out that we had a fire right on our block. The Chenier's house caught fire when a floor re-finishing project went awry. Fortunately no one was in the house. For a while, until their house was restored, the Cheniers stayed across the street with the... Wombleys?. In this case the house didn't burn to the ground and just a lot of interior rework put the house back into shape for living in.
