Re: Dave's broken arm?

I did not remember that snow fell on three consecutive nights! I don't think we got more than one snowfall on Berendo. Won't happen again, now, unless they dig that tunnel to Greenland that I've been recommending, the Glacial Runoff Canal? It's an incredible, incredible idea and many, many wonderful people have expressed profuse thanks to me for it! We'll make Mexico pay for it.

That pin points the date to middle to latter January 1949.  We have a photo of an L.A Timeswith the snow headline dated January 12, 1949.  The magazine used for the splint was probably and old issue as Mike explains.  If it were a Life magazine it might have been the one with Eisenhower on the cover, but could have been one of many others.  Speak up Dave.  Which one was it?  :-)

He must have broken it pretty early in 1949, because the Wiki says MFI was released in August, and the theater was under construction when Dave broke his arm. He was still eight in August, so maybe he was just nine when he was still in the sling. I remember the splint as Life magazine. I'm not sure we subscribed--we got our Saturday Evening Post's in those days as castoffs from Aunt Doris, who got them, as the address label told us, from Mrs. Tuohy across 104th from the Felixes. Also, there may have been more than one magazine in the splint.

I remember that momma subscribed to several magazines in those days.

Re: Dave's broken arm?

Mike,
It would have to have been early in 1949 when Dave broke his arm.  I don't know how long it took to complete the building but the theater was still in the foundation digging stage when Dave broke his arm and it was already showing movies in late summer early fall.  We haven't heard from Dave yet.  He must remember something of what showed on the outside of the magazine.

Dave,
