Checked out "Berendo Stairs" site. Makes me want to noogie myself all over again to see how well-known these stairs seem to be. I must have been within a stone's throw of them at some point, back when we lived in Hollywood and walked the hills on weekends. Of course, I don't actually look at my surroundings; I just sort of feel them.

I just drove to the bottom of the stairs after seeing them on Google Earth. I walked to the top. When I got home I used Google Earth to search out all the pieces of Berendo.I also found this site online that tells how to use the stairs and others to get to the observatory.--On Wed, Feb 17, 2021 at 1:05 PM Mike Dumas <mdumas42@gmail.com> wrote:Didn't know there was Berendo all the way up into the hills! And stairs! I love stairs. There were a few stairways in the Mt. Washington hills where we used to live, and in recent years Tony and I took a series of trips to San Francisco, and targeted a few of its many flights, (there they've taken to painting the risers, so you see a big picture, sometimes telling a progressive story, as you approach them.) It'll be post-germ-time before I can go check these out (I like company, and nobody in my household (Sharron, me, Becky, Mollie and Emmerson, Mo's five-year-old) is going to go fifty miles to climb stairs (well, Emmerson would, but I couldn't get that booking during the plague.))Did you get it into your head to just cruise the entirety of Berendo, in all its discontinuity? Or did you just test the extremes? I didn't know there was a North Berendo until High School. Loyola was on Venice Blvd, and I crossed a Berendo intersection on my walk to the school from the streetcar on Vermont. I figured all the Berendo that wasn't ours was beneath us, but I see the north end is in posh territory. This is just one of many little revelations hitting me in old age, making me think, "Where have I been all my life, that I'm just learning this?" And so little time left to enjoy the new-found fact! Soon, with luck (good and bad), I'll be in the stage where I can enjoy lifelong relearning of the same thing anew each day. Talk about a cheap date!--mike--On Wed, Feb 17, 2021 at 11:39 AM Alex Magdaleno <eng42b@gmail.com> wrote:--
