112th was busy and high-speed during the period it served as a detour
around Imperial Hwy. I went into kinder at that time (1947), and on
the return trip I had to wait for mama to come walk me over to the
Maggies' side (no crosswalk at Berendo). But I also remember that a
few years later I did two rabbit runs in quick succession across
112th, causing screeching brakes both ways, and Lamora called mama to
rat me out.

Interesting that they took out the circles.  Several circles in D.C., like DuPont Circle, have a statue in the middle, so they won't be taken out anytime soon.

I agree garage was one-car, but I see you have left out the short wall of broken concrete blocks right at the alley. I can't exactly picture it, but I remember Al and I sitting with our backs up to it eating popsicles. Must have provided some shade. Might have been L-shaped.
